Griha Pravesh — literally "house entry" — is one of the most significant Vedic rituals in a family's life. It marks not just the physical act of moving into a new home, but the spiritual consecration of the space. When performed with proper intention and Vastu alignment, Griha Pravesh establishes a foundation of harmony, prosperity, and protection.
The ritual traditionally involves a Ganesh puja (to remove obstacles), a Vastu puja (to appease the energies of the land), and the boiling of milk (symbolizing abundance). Each step is designed to align the inhabitants with the cosmic energies of the new dwelling, creating a conductive environment for growth and happiness.
Brass plays an essential role in Griha Pravesh. Brass vessels hold the sacred water, brass lamps carry the first flame into the new home, and brass idols are the first deities to enter. The metal's inherent purity and its connection to the sun (Surya) make it the preferred material for these rituals.
For your new home, we recommend placing a brass Kalpavriksha in the North-East corner of the living room, brass Owls flanking the entrance to signify protection, and a Surya Devta on the eastern wall to greet the rising sun. Each piece, already Abhimantrit, continues to radiate the energy established during Griha Pravesh.
